Dear Colleagues,

The 16th World Congress of Anaesthesiologists on 28 August - 2 September 2016 is nearly at our doorstep and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in Hong Kong.

We thank those societies who sent their nominations for the various WFSA committees.  The nominations for the committees are now closed. The final composition of these committees will be confirmed by the Council (formerly the Executive Committee) and ratified by the General Assembly .

The WFSA website www.wfsahq.org also shows the nominations that have been received for membership of the Council and for Officer positions for the forthcoming 4 years from 2016. These nominations are posted together with the short biographies (CVs) of those standing. The final composition of the Council and Officers will be determined by secret ballots held during the General Assemblies.

Council Nominees

 
We are now calling for counter-nominations for the Council and Officer positions, to be sent to the WFSA Headquarters admin@wfsahq.org no later than 28th July 2016.  Should you wish to counter-nominate a candidate, please return the following documents:

1.    Application Form - Board Application Form OR Council Application Form (attached)
2.    Abbreviated CV (no more than one A4 page).
3.    Passport-sized photograph.
4.    A letter from your Society confirming their support and that of 2 other Member Societies (i.e.       Societies acting together) for your nomination.

 

Please note the following: 

* Candidates for the Council (formerly Executive Committee) must be proposed to be, or have been in the past, delegates or alternates of their Society to the General Assemblies.

* Candidates, if elected, must participate in the first face-to-face meeting of the Council to take place during the World Congress. No expenses will be paid.

* Candidates must show commitment and willingness to be active in the aims of the WFSA.

* Candidates whose National Society is not in good standing (i.e. up-to-date with the payment of its annual subscription) will not be considered.

* All counter nominations must reach the WFSA Secretariat by 28th July 2016. There will be no extension of this deadline.

* All counter nominations MUST be supported by THREE member societies. A nominee for a position as an Officer must have served as a Delegate or an Alternate Delegate of a member society at the General Assembly and preferably should have served as a member of the Council.

* Only ONE nomination can be made for any one position by a member society.

The WFSA will at all times seek to maintain an equitable balance between all geographical regions in the world.

The final lists of all eligible nominees will be posted on the WFSA website. Voting for the Council will take place on a regional basis e.g. European delegates (and only European delegates) will vote for European members of the Council .Voting for Officer positions will be by the whole General Assembly.

Further details of the process can be found in the Constitution which has been shared with all members and can be requested from the WFSA Secretariat.

Further information on the General Assembly, including the agenda, will be sent to all national societies at a later date.
